Student support is a main focus with a comprehensive school counseling program, school social work interventions, and referrals to mental health counselors. Description & Responsibilities
Provide direct intervention to students and/or families to promote improvement in social-emotional and behavioral factors. Consultation to school personnel regarding the needs of students, families, and programs. Advocate for students, parents, and the school. Engage in positive conflict resolution and mediation between home and school factors. Provide in-service, consultation, and assistance to faculty, staff, and families as needed. Support development and implementation of students’ IEPs, 504 Plans, Response to Intervention plans, and/or related support plans. Provide crisis follow-up and coordination services after traumatic family incidents. Linkage to and advocacy for community resources as needed. Direct social skills/human skills development programming in whole class or small group settings. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduate-level training in social work and/or counseling. Prior experience as a Social Worker or Counselor working with children. Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, and/or State of Maine Licensure as LMSW, LMSW-CC, LCSW, or LCPC. Preferred Qualifications
Communication skills appropriate for engaging with parents, teachers, and administrators to provide a full view of issues to meet students’ needs. Strong organizational and crisis management skills.
