Coordinator of Elementary Religious Education Part‑time position. Reports to Pastor & Youth Director.

Job Summary The Coordinator of Elementary Religious Education applies a parish catechetical program(s) for youth up to age 11 and oversees the academic component of Confirmation for high school students. The role collaborates with the Youth Director to administer faith formation programs, coordinate sacramental preparation, maintain student files, and connect families to the parish community.

Responsibilities

Organize, schedule, and coordinate faith formation for assigned youth levels or groups.

Prepare and schedule sacramental programs and liturgies in cooperation with school.

Order or assist in ordering textbooks, teaching materials and resources for the program.

Contribute to annual budget and monthly grade level activities and updates.

Create a yearly calendar for the program and coordinate with Faith Formation Commission and parish master calendar.

Support and endorse Diocesan and pastoral council and faith formation commission policies.

Supervise assigned grade levels or groups in the Faith Formation program.

Recruit, recruit or assist in eliciting catechists and volunteers for assigned levels or groups.

Supervise or assist with appropriate in‑service training and formation of catechists.

Advise and visit with students, parents/guardians, catechists if problems or concerns arise.

Prepare or assist with liturgical celebrations for students and families.

Coordinate sacramental rites for students with pastor/pastoral administrator.

Collaborate with pastoral staff to integrate the total faith formation plan for the parish.

Meet regularly with parish staff to assist in integration of Religious Education programs with whole parish.

Monitor and order supplies.

Coordinate preparation of weekly bulletin section for Elementary Faith Formation.

Maintain constant communication with Faith Formation families.

Coordinate email announcements through ParishApp.

Maintain and assist with sacramental records, notifications, and certificates on parish grounds per Diocese guidelines.

Assist with Diocesan Appeal, Capital Campaign, and other major parish fundraisers.

Coordinate with Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure all catechists and volunteers are in good standing with Archdiocese safe environments programs.

Attend Pastoral Council as requested and provide monthly ministry report meetings as well as development committee or any other meetings assigned by pastor.

Maintain continuous education and training in the faith.

Adhere to Archdiocese Code of Conduct and safe environment mandates.

Minimum Qualifications

Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.

Undergraduate work in Theology, Catechesis, experience as a CRE or any age‑appropriate education experience.

Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).

Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.

Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management.

Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to unpredictable schedule when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.

Ability to compose correspondence, minutes and/or reports.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.
