JOB SUMMARY:
This position is a part of the CGCC GED/Pre-College to assist students in preparing for the GED tests by providing academic support, resources, and guidance in a positive and encouraging learning environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assist students with their study materials and GED test preparation activities. Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in subjects such as math, science, social studies, and language arts. Competency in Algebra and Geometry Help create and maintain a structured and supportive study lab environment. Monitor student progress and offer feedback to help them stay on track with their goals. Provide guidance on test-taking strategies and study techniques. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Collaborate with the GED program coordinator and instructors to identify student needs and tailor support accordingly. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. Familiarity with GED testing requirements and content areas is a plus. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficient in using educational technology and online learning platforms. Speaking and writing proficiently in the English language are required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED Math 111 or Equivalent Experience working in an educational or tutoring environment, particularly with adult learners or non-traditional students. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires working at a computer, typing, sitting, and standing. This position requires use of office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, adding machines, fax machines, and scanners.
