Overview

Scheduled Hours: 40 Position Summary: The Operations & Facilities Management Department at WashU Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus. We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management. WashU Medicine continues to expand its presence on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, and our team ensures the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancement of research initiatives, and facilitation of educational endeavors. Assists with the enforcement of university policy and procedures. Patrols facilities and campus. Reports situations to the communications center. Receives calls for service from the communications center. Provides a variety of logistical and administrative tasks as needed to support the department\'s daily missions.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provides internal/external patrol for university properties, reporting safety or security issues to Dispatch. Receives/compiles information for incident reports on minor, non-criminal incidents. Responds to situations and assists response personnel. Assists in investigations. Provides event support with block-offs, traffic direction, and pedestrian safety.

Conducts building checks, including access control devices and door locks, and looks for possible safety or security issues. Reports any discrepancies to Dispatch. Conducts escort van operations and outdoor safety checks. Provides support to Emergency Management for fire drills and assists with fire extinguishers and AED checks.

Locks/unlocks doors to permit entry at appropriate times. Provides mail and package delivery daily for the department. Performs other administrative duties as directed.

Takes possession of found property, attempts to locate the owner, and secures said property according to established policy.

Provides backup and relief in the Communications Center as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions Working Location/Conditions: Alternative work schedule as a regular part of the job (on-call, shifts, evenings, and weekends).

Requires extensive safety training.

Requires protective devices.

Response Officers/Bike Patrol Officers perform duties in the established uniform, primarily on foot.

Officers assigned to the Bike Patrol or other special duties may be provided with a bicycle or motor vehicle.

Physical Effort

Typically standing or walking.

Typically running or climbing.

Typically, bending, crouching, and stooping.

Occasional lifting (25 - 50 lbs.).

Equipment

Operate a motor vehicle.

Office equipment.

Required Qualifications Education:

More About This Job Required Qualifications:

Ability to obtain and maintain a St. Louis Metropolitan Security License within 30 days of hire.

To obtain this license, individuals must meet the basic licensing requirements for the Security Officer licensing category and be at least 21 years of age.

Must obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D Driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

Salary Range:

$17.03 - $24.61 / Hour

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by qualifications and performance, equity, market rates, and department budget.
