Job Summary Provides academic advisement and career planning to new and continuing students both in-person and virtually (phone, chat, email, & video conference) with high levels of accuracy and customer service. Acts as an initial point of contact for academic advisement and supports students through the onboarding & admissions processes at the college. Assists students with goal setting and academic planning. Advises students on initial enrollment processes, course placement, program and degree requirements, general college information, & Field of Interest programming. Provides referrals to other support services and campus resources. Works with a various population of students, administrators, faculty, and staff and supports one or more Fields of Interest. Maintains a caseload of assigned students and reports relevant student success and retention data. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties.
Essential Functions
60% - Provides academic advisement and career planning to new and continuing students in-person, by phone, chat, video conference and email; Advises students on program and degree requirements within one or more Field of Interest; Interprets course placement, evaluates prior credit, and assists students in the onboarding, enrollment, & transfer processes at the college.
25% - Maintains a caseload of students and reports data on student success and retention. Develops comprehensive academic plans and assists students with goal setting.
10% - Delivers presentations, orientations, or workshops in a group format; Directs students to college resources and provides general information about the college; Meets and corresponds with students, parents, faculty, and college representatives to resolve problems related to student services functions; assists with departmental training of student workers and temporary employees.
5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time equivalent of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
One (1) or more years of experience working in Enrollment Services/Student Services position at a community college.
Proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience maintaining student records within a student database management system (i.e. Peoplesoft, Banner, Salesforce, etc.).
Experience presenting and delivering group presentations or orientations.
Experience providing academic advisement in higher education.
Effective written communication skills (as evident by application materials).
Special Working Conditions
