San Bernardino County is recruiting for

Social Workers II

who provide complex social work services to assist individuals and families in enhancing their capacity for social functioning and in developing social service resources. Positions exist primarily within the

Department of Aging and Adult Services , the

Children and Family Services , the

Department of Public Health , and the

Responsibilities

Provide complex social work services to assist individuals and families in enhancing their capacity for social functioning and in developing social service resources. Travel to clients in homes, in the field, and other settings to perform complete assessments of risk factors and to observe injuries and the client environment as mandated by the State. Some positions may require ability to lift and carry children up to 50 lbs. Support may include interviewing, counseling, case management, and referring clients to services.

Conditions of Employment

Incumbents must be able to visit clients in their homes, in the field, and other settings. Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required with mileage reimbursement available at current IRS rates. A clean driving record and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Availability: Some positions are assigned to 24-hour programs which may require shifts including day, swing, night, rotating, and/or weekend. Indicate willingness to work these alternate schedules on your application.

Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one of the following options: Option A:

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) with supervised social work internship/ practicum/ field work. Option B:

A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, psychology, sociology, social services, human services, behavioral anthropology, gerontology, cultural and gender studies, or human development AND 480 hours of supervised internship/practicum/ equivalent work providing mental health, substance use disorder, or social work services in a human services agency. Option C:

Thirty (30) semester units (45 quarter units) of completed coursework as described in Option B, and one year of entry-level social work experience. Note: Candidates in the Final Year of Bachelor's Program may apply within 90 days of completing a qualifying degree; offers may be contingent upon degree completion. Required documentation includes a list of completed coursework or transcripts unless you hold a qualifying bachelor’s degree. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must include an evaluation for equivalency. BSW/MSW degrees or coursework must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

Bilingual Skills:

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Vietnamese are encouraged to apply; additional compensation may be available for bilingual duties. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and departmental computer systems is a plus. There will be an online examination covering Social Work Methods and Practices, Customer Service/Interpersonal Skills, and Interviewing/Non-clinical Counseling.
