Intake Specialist/Legal Assistant
in New York, NY. This full‑time position offers a base pay range of
$40,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr . Overview
The firm focuses on plaintiff‑side litigation, including employment law and disability access cases under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are looking for a highly organized and empathetic intake professional who will be the first point of contact for potential clients and play a key role in screening and escalating qualified matters. This in‑office role requires presence in the office at least four days per week. Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for potential clients via phone, email, and website submissions. Conduct thorough intake interviews to assess facts related to potential claims, including: Discrimination (race, gender, disability, age, etc.). Sexual harassment or hostile work environment. Wrongful termination or constructive discharge. Retaliation and whistleblower claims. Unpaid wages, overtime violations, and misclassification. Accurately input client information and case details into the firm’s case management system. Identify viable claims based on firm criteria and escalate qualifying matters to attorneys for further evaluation. Communicate with empathy and professionalism, often with individuals in distress or crisis. Track follow‑up tasks, including scheduling consultations and collecting supporting documentation. Coordinate with the Employment team to ensure smooth handoff of potential matters. Assist with tracking referral sources and helping evaluate marketing campaign effectiveness. Direct firm calls, filing, mailing, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the firm. Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in legal intake, customer service, or a related role (employment law experience strongly preferred). Exceptional communication and active listening skills. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow-ups. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a strong plus. Discretion, empathy, and professionalism when handling sensitive or emotional conversations. Benefits
