Innovative research, professional service, and stellar teaching and mentorship define the UNT Department of History. The Administrative Specialist position assists our students by managing and supervising all operations of the Department of History’s Help Center. Position Overview:

The duty of this Administrative Specialist position is to maintain all History Help Center equipment and resources, supervise all Help Center personnel, provide a space for tutoring, make-up exams, and proctors exams for faculty courses. This position supports the department's operations by maintaining inventory and purchasing for service awards and tenure review, completing the annual space survey, and assisting with updates to our History course primary source texts. Responsibilities:

Training, supervising, scheduling, and monitoring time and labor for help center hourly student workers. Managing the help center student use computers textbooks, etc., scheduling proctors for exams as needed, and assisting visitors as needed. Collecting, submitting, maintaining and coordinating department book orders and desk copies for Faculty, Adjuncts, TAs, and TFs. Collecting syllabi and ensuring faculty compliance with upload to FIS, updating employee data (phones, offices, etc.), and managing the SPOT survey and Space Survey. Maintaining the department website: Building new content and maintaining current and accurate information. Assisting the Chair with the annual faculty evaluation process and managing shipping of publications for tenure review. Acting as the primary records retention manager to coordinate department efforts in retention and disposal of records. Managing the department library and maintaining the book catalogs. Requirements:

Associate's degree and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Exceptional customer service skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in working with and managing student employees. Experience using Excel, Word, Access, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic file management. Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills. EEO Statement:
