Tax Experienced Associate – Private Client Services
Private Client Services at BDO is a boutique practice serving high net‑worth individuals, families, family offices, C‑Suite executives, and entertainers, with expertise in estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving; executive compensation; and cash‑flow, retirement, and life insurance planning.
Job Summary The Tax Experienced Associate is responsible for utilizing educational background and professional experience to provide tax compliance and consulting services to high net‑worth clients. The role requires communication, time management, leadership, technical, business development, and people skills.
Responsibilities
Participate in tax and consulting engagements; develop skills identifying and addressing client needs.
Work with managers and clients to gather information needed to prepare tax returns.
Prepare individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns (Federal and State) while following instructions and seeking feedback.
Provide tax research support for PCS leadership.
Analyze tax notices from government agencies and propose solutions or responses.
Work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Prioritize and complete tasks; build relationships with other service lines and subject‑matter professionals.

Education and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field (required).
CPA certification (required) or equivalent (preferred).
Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation (preferred).
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
One (1) or more years of prior tax experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to follow instructions and seek feedback.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain complex tax matters.
Leadership: leads by example, takes on challenges, and sees tasks through completion.
Business Development: explains value of internal and external professional network.
People Development: builds and maintains client relationships and assists new hires.
Licenses/Certifications
CPA, Attorney (U.S. admission), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) (preferred).
Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role (preferred).
Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat (required).
Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software such as GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep (preferred).
