Responsibilities

Participates in staff development opportunities and maintains child welfare certification through ongoing training.

Works as a cooperative member of the unit, backing up other team members and assisting on cases.

Maintains relationships with supervisory staff, ensuring proper response to and use of supervision.

Maintains relationships with community resource providers, facilitating referrals and ensuring continuity of care for families.

Establishes and maintains relationships with children and families, focusing on stability, satisfaction with services, and overall safety.

Accurately completes case notes, entering all information into the required data system in a timely, factual, and descriptive manner.

Prepares for and attends all court activities, testifying regarding case status and progress toward permanency, and interacting with attorneys.

Develops and completes judicial reviews, assessments, child well‑being reviews, medical reviews, reunification packets, termination reports, and other required reports.

Attends individual case staffings.

Conducts initial and ongoing child safety assessments.

Makes referrals for services as needed.

Arranges emergency placement, medical treatment, and services for children at risk.

Conducts diligent searches for parents and family members, documenting effort to locate them.

Completes home studies required for prospective placements.

Plans and facilitates visits between children in care and their family members.

Conducts minimum monthly face‑to‑face contacts with children, parents, relatives, and others within the caseload.

Reviews and assesses family progress toward case‑plan goals.

Supports foster and adoptive families.

Negotiates subsidy agreements with adoptive parents when applicable.

Completes adoption paperwork leading to finalization as assigned.

Meets adoption goals when applicable.

Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or another related human service field.

Experience : One year of relevant social services experience working with children and families.

Credentials :

Child Welfare Certification – required to participate in certification training and obtain certification upon completion.

Current Background Clearance Screening Letter.

Valid driver’s license (and insurable by the agency’s current insurance carrier if using a company automobile).

Skills to understand and evaluate risk factors for child abuse and neglect.

Proficient computer skills, including all Microsoft Office products.
