The job of the Student Advocate Aide was established to assist high school students who may be below proficiency and need additional support. Main Responsibilities
Under the direction of the designated Lead Counselor, the aide will: Provide educational support to students to improve their academic skills using class time for instruction and remediation. Maintain necessary contracts and files on students. Communicate student progress with parents/guardians and teachers. Link students and their families to school and community resources. Monitor attendance and discipline. Advocate for students and promote the program in the junior high. Evaluate student progress including attendance, academic, and behavioral data. Coordinate with community partners to build resources. Keep accurate records of student, parent, staff, and community contacts. Participate in stakeholder conferences to develop student action plans. Assist with the supervision of students during instructional and non-instructional time. Support a positive school climate while interacting with students, families, staff, and community members. Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, staff, and community members. Facilitate social and emotional growth with students. Improve professional competence through professional development. Participate in staff meetings at both site and district levels. Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must be able to operate standard office equipment. Prepare and maintain accurate records, utilizing pertinent software applications. Utilize problem-solving techniques. Knowledge of instructional/tutorial procedures and practices, intervention techniques, age-appropriate activities, stages of child development, and safety practices and procedures. Experience:
Job-related experience is required. Education:
