Program Assistant/Academic Advisor The FlexGE Program Assistant/Academic Advisor is a full-time position supporting the FlexGE Program through program operations, student services, communications, and event administration. The role also includes academic advising, helping students plan coursework, access resources, and prepare for transfer. This position is based on the Provo campus but may occasionally require work at the BYU Salt Lake Center, approximately 1–2 times per month.

Responsibilities Student Services

Assist and answer questions from prospective and current students.

Support admissions processes including verifying eligibility, approving applications, and placing/removing holds.

Assist in hiring, training, and supervising student advisors.

Communications

Keep students informed of important dates, events, and activities through email, SMS, and social media.

Prepare and format the weekly student newsletter with content from academic advisors and the program manager.

Post on program social media channels and respond to comments/questions.

Assist with marketing campaigns.

Event Administration

Administer student activities and events including reserving locations, purchasing materials, renting equipment, and arranging catering.

Program Operations

Work with internal systems, service providers, and campus partners to gather and present program data.

Prepare scholarship applications and process awards and denials.

Assist in submitting expense reports and tracking budget items.

Student Leadership Development

Oversee the training and mentoring of the FlexGE Student Council.

Provide guidance, leadership development, and opportunities for council members to engage in student life.

Academic Advisement

Meet with prospective FlexGE students and parents to help them determine if FlexGE is a good fit for them.

Meet with FlexGE students to help them plan classes, access campus resources, and prepare for transfer.

Refer students to campus services and additional advisors as appropriate.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.

Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus two years working in higher education.

Knowledge of BYU general education and major requirements.

Familiarity with BYU campus services and locations.

Experience with social media.

Pay Grade: 49

Typical Starting Pay: $22.00 – $28.75
