General Information The Materials Planner is responsible for purchasing materials, or other goods, and coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. These duties are carried out while demonstrating competence in required areas and effectively applying technical and theoretical “know how” to job related tasks.

What are we looking for?

BA/BS in Business/Engineering or related studies with 3 to 5 years progressive experience.

APICS & C.P.M. certifications a plus.

This position is responsible for:

Reviews requisitions

Interviews and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, and examining items

Estimates values according to knowledge of market price

Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid

Prepares purchase orders or bid requests

Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority

Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items and services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods and services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and takes corrective action

May approve invoices for payment

May expedite delivery of goods to users

Maintains up to date desk procedures

Is up to date with all safety training requirements for the position

Other duties as assigned
