Position Title Head Coach – Flag Football – Silas (Ottawa County)

Job Overview The Head Coach will assist in carrying out the objectives of the athletic program, ensuring compliance with Ottawa County, district, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policies and regulations while promoting student learning and development through flag football.

Essential Job

Supervise student athletes to promote effective learning through participation in athletic activities.

Assist in preparing athletes physically and mentally to participate with confidence, administer discipline fairly and consistently, emphasize safety precautions, and provide opportunities for each participant to succeed.

Assist in overseeing stimulating and instructional practice sessions conducted regularly, teaching basic fundamental skills, promoting sportsmanship, and abiding by coaching guidelines.

Follow district procedures for handling injuries.

Oversee equipment issuance, maintain records, conduct weekly safety checks, and hold students responsible for lost equipment.

Attend all district and building athletic meetings as called by the building athletic director or district athletic directorli>

Attend clinics and workshops to stay current with rule changes and coaching programs adopted by WIAA and the district.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment Work with students in outdoor fields, indoor and outdoor courts, gymnasium, swimming pool or other sports facilities; physical ability to lift and move sports equipment; may be exposed to infectious diseases and inclement weather.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent.

At least 19 years of age (WIAA regulation).

Coaching experience in flag football or related sport.

First Aid, CPR, and AED training required.

Red Cross Safety Training or Lifeguard certification required for swimming/diving/coaching roles.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Ottawa County, district, and WIAA policies, regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Knowledge of flag football and related sports.

Ability to comply with WIAA coaching standards.

Ability to exercise fairness, motivate, and maintain ethical conduct.

Ability to maintain accurate records and manage equipment.

Ability to work with students of varying athletic abilities in a multicultural setting.
