Asbestos Area Supervisor

to join our Asbestos Services team. The Main Purpose Of This Role Is Threefold To personally deliver asbestos surveys and other asbestos related project work in accordance with agreed quality standards and productivity targets. To assist in retrospective QA Survey audits and first-hand Quality Assessment Audits. To manage a team of field based staff, and associates and ensure they deliver asbestos surveys and other asbestos related project work in accordance with agreed quality standards and productivity targets. In conjunction with the Operations Manager – Asbestos and through effective supervision of the field based staff and associates - you will ensure that all client works are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and to the required level of quality. This role will be a significant fee earning role within the asbestos team, with approximately 60% to 80% of available time spent delivering asbestos surveys and other asbestos related work on site. Responsibilities You will be accountable for making a significant contribution to the operational and commercial performance of the asbestos team. You will generate fees through the personal delivery of asbestos surveys and other asbestos related project work. You will directly manage a number of field based asbestos surveyors, analysts and sub-contracted associates deployed on our contracts. Working collaboratively and proactively with the Operations Manager (Asbestos) and all teams within the asbestos service, you will ensure we have an integrated approach to service delivery, which delivers our key business objectives and targets and our service plan objectives and targets, and delivers clients’ contractual requirements. You will foster good relations between the surveying team and rest of the business. Responsibilities Include Operational Performance – ensure the achievement of all agreed quality standards of your team to support delivery of key objectives, service plan objectives and contractual obligations with all clients. Ensure a strong relationship between all functions of the asbestos service and a responsive team with a first-time-right approach. Line Management – line manage a team of field staff and the performance of our associate pool. Include onboarding, induction, training, auditing, setting objectives, ongoing management, regular 1-to-1s and performance reviews, and off-boarding. Supervision of Trainees – onboard and manage trainees, supported by the Operations Manager – Quality and Training, ensuring they receive appropriate opportunities and training to qualify for surveying and analytical work. Team resourcing – work with the Operations Manager – Asbestos to ensure a fair and robust approach to talent acquisition for the field team. Team communications – check in regularly with team members via 1-to-1s and knowledge-sharing sessions; build a cohesive team culture. Inter-team communications – ensure strong relationships with all functions of the asbestos business, facilitating feedback and continuous improvements. Quality Control – manage field staff and associates to stay up to date with asbestos legislation, guidance and industry best practice, including UKAS accreditation and relevant health and safety legislation; embed high quality in all work. Auditing – support a robust auditing process, conduct monthly quality assurance audits, report findings within required timescales to the Operations Manager – Quality and Training. Health & Safety – embed a strong safety culture through induction and ongoing training; ensure all safety framework elements are implemented and followed. Information Technology – assist field staff with day-to-day IT needs; on-site support to enable effective work. Management Information – use monthly management information to intervene and drive quality and productivity. Customer Relationship Management – provide operational client contact as required and support the Operations Manager - Asbestos when needed. Commercial Performance – contribute to financial targets (turnover, gross profit, net profit) through productivity aligned with client contracts. Complex Projects – participate in on-site delivery of more complex asbestos projects as required.
