Job Description The Electronics Technician, Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, including replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment, and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes and amplifiers. This position works under close supervision with technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, modify and install electronic equipment and related devices (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, navigational aids; personal and mainframe computers and terminals; industrial, medical, measuring and controlling equipment; industrial robotic devices).
Possess and apply a good understanding of basic electronic theories and familiarity with standard electronic components.
Apply technical knowledge of electronics principles to determine equipment malfunctions, restore operation, evaluate performance and reliability, and recommend changes to simplify assembly and maintenance.
Work with optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies (e.g., integrated circuit boards).
Other Requirements:
Eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports operational objectives and observes Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. May be required to handle hazardous material/waste.
Work Environment & Physical Demands Work Environment:
May perform work in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks may require outdoor work in heat or cold, and TDY travel may be required. May work offshore in all-weather environments.
Physical Demands:
Climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds; pull or carry heavy items.
Additional Information GENERAL DUTIES include repairs, troubleshooting, modification and installation of electronic equipment and related devices (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, navigational aids; computers and terminals; industrial and medical equipment; robotic devices). Applicants may have a good understanding of electronic theories and components. The incumbent applies electronics principles to diagnose and restore equipment, evaluate performance, and recommend changes to simplify installation and maintenance. Optics related to laser and camera systems is a plus.
