Job Title SFOBB Bike Shuttle Operator (Caltrans Equipment Operator I)

Duties Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the District Bike Shuttle Operator engages in the transport of the Bay Area's bicycle‑riding constituents between Oakland and San Francisco. Makes minor adjustments and/or emergency repairs to maintain equipment used in the securing and safe transport of patron’s bicycles. Must be willing to work non‑traditional work schedules to accommodate special events, emergencies or projects that affect the Region or Caltrans. Must remain on a set schedule as directed by management.

Special Requirements

The position requires a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the CDL questions on your application and provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements or restrictions.

A drug screening must be passed prior to hiring.

The incumbent shall have basic knowledge of automobiles and trucks, including different transmission systems and traction control systems. Decisions must be made on the spot as the incumbent is not subject to continuous control. Priorities are set and the incumbent is expected to coordinate necessities to accomplish the function with a reasonable degree of independence. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.

A valid unrestricted Class B commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement is required.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
