Position Summary : The Operations Supervisor for the ice arena oversees daily operations, ensuring the facility runs smoothly and provides a safe, enjoyable environment for all patrons. Key duties include maintaining high‑quality ice conditions for events, managing staff, coordinating events, maintaining equipment, and handling any arising issues.

Primary Responsibilities :

Assist with setup and teardown of the ice rink for seasonal changeovers.

Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the ice arena, including ice maintenance, scheduling, and facility management.

Maintain the ice surface, performing resurfacing and quality checks, and promptly addressing any issues.

Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of the ice resurfacer and edger.

Deliver excellent guest service, treating athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders, and team members with respect and friendliness.

Ensure safety standards are met while operating machinery in proximity to athletes and spectators.

Setup, teardown, and monitor daily events (community skate sessions, practices, games, private rentals).

Inspect and manage inventory of ice arena supplies, including maintenance materials and rental equipment.

Perform general rink maintenance tasks, such as sweeping and cleaning.

Follow safe operating techniques for blade changes, driving, resurfacing, handling, and machine inspection as per STAR guidelines.

Respond to guest concerns and refer to the appropriate manager when needed.

Enforce facility policies and procedures.

Maintain knowledge of program options and facility events.

Assist other operational areas as required.

Accurately record all ice and equipment maintenance logs and daily readings.

Respond to incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations, filing necessary paperwork.

Adhere to health and safety standards.

Act as manager‑on‑duty for opening/closing of the facility on schedule.

Complete special projects, daily assignments, and additional duties as directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications :

Ability to work with a wide range of ages from preschool through adult.

Knowledge of ice maintenance and rink operations preferred.

Experience in facility management, ideally in an ice arena or similar environment.

Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays, long hours) based on facility needs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Calm, focused in high‑volume, fast‑paced environments.

Detail‑oriented with outstanding organizational skills and prioritization ability.

Commitment to safety and wellbeing of others.

Valid driver’s license required.

Certified Ice Technician (CIT) preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands :

Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Perform work in an outdoor ice arena with cold temperatures, weather conditions, and varying noise levels for extended periods.

Exposure to ice resurfacing equipment and other machinery.

Stand for extended periods.

Work independently in a busy environment.

Comply with safety and health code standards.
