American Museum of Natural History . Lead and assist with coordination and review of all materials for the Board of Trustees and its committees, serving as liaison for administrative matters and ensuring accurate corporate records for governance.
Job Overview The Office of General Counsel is seeking a full‑time Manager, Legal and Board Operations to support Board calendar coordination, Trustee onboarding, and compliance matters. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary and interfaces frequently with other units and senior management.
Base Pay Range $90,000.00/yr – $110,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Lead coordination and review of all Board and Committee materials, including preparation of agendas and supporting documents.
Prepare materials for posting on the electronic Board portal.
Assist with coordination and scheduling of all Board and Committee meetings in person and virtually via Zoom.
Assist with preparing and maintaining records and documents related to Board and Committee activities.
Advance the digitization initiative for corporate records, including interfacing with the Museum’s Digital Asset Management System.
Support Trustee onboarding and orientation.
Interact extensively with senior management and their staff on administrative and other issues related to Board activities.
Support attorneys and compliance staff in the Office of General Counsel on issues managed by the department, including research, filing and corporate and litigation support.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program.
Five years of experience as a corporate paralegal with a law firm or corporate legal department.
Experience handling sensitive, privileged and confidential information.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and collaborate successfully across all levels of the organization.
Thorough proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel with willingness to learn new computer programs, including opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with standard corporate or nonprofit governance procedures, policies and practices.
Experience with a board portal.
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
