Overview
Operations & Maintenance Technician IV - Fleet at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The position is located at Jensen Filtration Plant, Granda Hill, CA. This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position. Responsibilities
Utilize journey-level automotive light, medium and heavy-duty equipment mechanical experience. Diagnose and repair electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air brakes systems, ABS systems, manual standard and automatic transmission systems, emission systems, HVAC systems, suspensions and steering systems. Maintain and repair fleet-related vehicles and equipment, including gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. Maintain and repair mobile and stationary emergency generating equipment systems. Use a detailed Maintenance Management System (MMS) database for work orders, inventory control, fuel management, service records and regulatory entries. Support operational core of water and power reliability by maintaining, repairing and improving fleet equipment and services for core and supporting operations and maintenance functions, including shutdowns. Provide and maintain fleet equipment reliability, quality, and efficiency through predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance skills. Schedule
4/10, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position may require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, often with overnight stays. Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency plus a minimum of 6 years in automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair, or equivalent journey-level skills obtained through a recognized automotive trade training program and/or related industrial experience. Experience and knowledge:
Practical application of inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of automotive equipment including pumps, compressors, and heavy equipment. Skills in mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, welding, computer/electronics, and handheld diagnostic systems. Relevant Experience:
Heavy equipment mechanical experience maintaining and repairing a variety of automotive and heavy equipment, including gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles, graders, generators, bulldozers, tractor-trailers, tankers, cranes and other construction-related heavy equipment. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid Driver’s license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A, B, and/or C with appropriate commercial license endorsements. Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent that allows you to drive during employment (required at time of application). Must be able to obtain valid California Class A Driver’s license and medical certification with appropriate commercial license endorsements (Tanker & Hazmat, air brake and trailer endorsements). Certification from the South Coast Air Quality Management District in freon installation, automotive air conditioning and emissions, including refrigerant recycling and service procedures. Benefits
