DEPUTY EXECUTIVE OFFICER, PROJECT MANAGEMENT (CONSTRUCTION)
Metro is hiring for a Deputy Executive Officer to oversee major capital and construction projects. Applicants should be experienced senior project managers with a background in mass transit and large‑scale infrastructure.
Base pay range
$156,561.60/yr - $235,976.00/yr
Responsibilities
Directs performance of services by assigned staff, consultants, and contractors for successful completion of projects and contracts.
Plans, assigns, monitors, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
Manages third‑party coordination and public affairs activities related to project design and completion.
Establishes and monitors project goals, budgets, schedules, and strategies.
Ensures all design and construction activities meet operations and maintenance quality standards.
Develops and manages information security and recovery capabilities; oversees IT interfaces with Metro databases.
Evaluates consultant work to ensure compliance with agency objectives.
Represents Metro at meetings, conferences, and public events.
Conducts technical studies and analyses.
Prepares and presents reports to executive staff, the Board of Directors, and regulators.
Sets and implements project policies, procedures, safety standards, and controls.
Ensures compliance with Metro policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
Supervises, trains, mentors, and motivates staff.
Assists in developing the department’s succession plan.
Oversees contracts, operating budget, and capital budget for the unit.
Communicates Metro’s safety vision and ensures implementation of safety rules.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Five years of senior management experience in design/construction of major capital projects, including mass transit.
Certifications: California Class C Driver’s License; California PE preferred; construction or project management certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Transit, railroad, or heavy civil construction experience.
Experience with diverse project delivery methods.
Experience controlling complex project schedules.
Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams.
Experience communicating with government officials, contractors, and the public.
