Job Title: Transportation Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Base Pay Range: $70,000 – $100,000 per year
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience to join our team. This role involves designing and managing roadway projects, ensuring compliance with state and local standards, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver successful infrastructure solutions.
Duties / Responsibilities
Develop roadway designs and layouts using industry-standard software (e.g., InRoads, ORD, MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D) in accordance with state and local guidelines.
Lead roadway projects from conception through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and client expectations are met.
Prepare construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway and transportation projects.
Coordinate closely with traffic, structural, and drainage teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
Maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs and providing practical, effective engineering solutions.
Ensure all projects adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT requirements.
Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency of deliverables.
Assist in the preparation and submission of permit applications and other regulatory approvals.
Prepare technical reports, memos, and other documentation as required for projects.
Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
5–10 years of roadway engineering experience focused on transportation infrastructure projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within six months.
Proficiency with roadway design software such as MicroStation, InRoads, ORD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Experience with DOT projects (GDOT preferred) and familiarity with applicable design standards.
Strong project‑management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration.
Detail‑oriented mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
Experience with intersection improvement, sidewalk improvements, bridge replacements, and large‑scale transportation projects is a plus.
Familiarity with traffic engineering principles and their application in roadway design is a plus.
