Texas Children's Hospital 3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Job Description We’re looking for a Coding Quality Assurance Specialist III, someone who’s ready to grow with our company. In this position, you will assign and audit the accuracy of the ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for ambulatory, emergency center, observation, and day surgery records for billing, research, and regulatory purposes. You will ensure the accuracy of physicians' E/M and procedure coding based on documentation, complete auditing reports, and provide feedback to the education team and/or providers. Responsibilities may vary depending on work assignment. Think you’ve got what it takes? Job Duties & Responsibilities Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, E/M, and CPT codes. Review and interpret physician documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes. Communicate with and provide feedback to the education team and/or providers. Review patient charges to determine necessary coding for account completion. Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes from medical records. Use encoder or coding books to generate appropriate codes. Sequence diagnoses and procedures for billing. Query physicians for diagnoses not clearly provided. Utilize resources like Epic, MIQS, Cardio IMS, and coding references for code assignment. Assist other coders in resolving coding issues. Provide codes for research and quality reporting. Complete record abstracts as needed. Assist in correcting problem accounts. Review charts for completeness. Participate in education and maintain certification. Assist in auditing records. Maintain concurrent coding for inpatient records. Skills & Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification (choose one): CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CIPC, COC, CPC, CRC, RHIA, RHIT from recognized bodies. At least 4 years of coding experience, preferably with an encoder and electronic medical records.
