Job Description We are looking for a skilled Estimator/Project manager to join our team, with experience in site work, excavation, heavy civil construction (bridges, road work, and water/sewer mains). Will be responsible for finding, reading, reviewing and understanding the bids, plans and specifications associated with projects.

Pay based on experience.

Essential Job Functions

Search for upcoming Bids through advertisements, builders exchange, legal notices, and other means and order plans

Verify specifications and purchase requirements

Attend pre‑bid meetings and travel to sites for upcoming projects to be bid

Break bids down into tasks to calculate quantities, work schedule, equipment and labor requirements, compute pricing and pricing margins (perform quantity takeoffs)

Solicit pricing from Material and Subcontractor suppliers keeping in mind project MWBE/DBE/SDVOB goals and requirements.

Document correspondence with MWBE/DBE/SDVOB subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process

Accurately complete contract bid documents for timely submission.

Work as a team with other estimators and project managers on a daily basis in all aspects of the estimating department.

Apply productions and methods to the bid items to establish accurate costs.

Compile final bid pricing and deliver bid submission packages to respective Owners.

Evaluate subcontractor/material pricing after bid to determine optimal Project Buyout pricing.

Post‑bid: perform MWBE/DBE/SDVOB Good Faith Effort compliance review and/or waiver request as necessary for successfully bid projects.

Attend/coordinate internal estimating handoff to the construction team.

Post‑bid: review project and bid to develop a more efficient, effective, and competitive bidding process

Review performance of existing jobs with field operations to identify lessons learned.

Post‑bid: continue refinement of our estimating database, adjusting, adding and changing crews, activities, etc. This information should be discussed openly through the lessons learned database.

Experience / Education This position requires an understanding of project management in a construction office. An Associate's Degree is required, and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred for this position.

Required Skills

Strong organizational and prioritizing skills

Ability to multi‑task

Computer skills: MS Excel and Word, Autodesk, HCSS Heavybid, and Bluebeam are regularly used in the estimating department

Efficient verbal and written communication

Accurate data entry and accurate calculation of mathematical problems

Higher level, complex analysis and interpretation required for problem solving

Ability to work with teams and other divisions

Independent judgment required using existing guidelines to determine work methods

Knowledge of internet research

Ability to negotiate to receive best prices

Ability to develop and cultivate long‑term relationships with outside clients, vendors, and sub‑contractors
