The Sr. Supplier Engineer supports sustaining and new product development activities within Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) category team to execute material controls deliverables and meet business needs. Serving as the technical lead, the role partners with cross‑functional groups to resolve complex and critical supplier‑related issues, evaluate supplier performance, mitigate risks for supplied materials, and drive strategies to support supply chain objectives.
Boston Scientific follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in the local office at least three days per week.
Responsibilities will include:
Working with suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished good manufacturing processes and act as a technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product
Partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Quality, R&D, Design Assurance, and Project Management to execute Material Controls deliverables according to program needs, such as purchased material qualification, supplier-driven change assessments, supplier capacity or capability improvement projects, or regulated materials compliance assessments
Partnering with Global Sourcing category teams to provide technical expertise in establishing and executing category objectives
Investigating and evaluating new and existing technologies for use in future products or to improve quality/reliability of current products
Conducting risk assessments on sourced materials and building installed capacity and capability at suppliers; plan and execute service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component supply to BSC
Coordinating all phases of supplier engineering work content for projects and communicating emerging issues and recovery plans with site leadership and stakeholders to gain resources and support
Identifying and executing material cost reduction projects to meet plant, division, and category goals; influence cross-functional teams to support and drive value improvement projects
Demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of technical experience supporting complex electrical systems
Experience with project management and data analytics
Ability to travel up to 15% globally
Preferred qualifications:
Working knowledge of PCBA components, performance characteristics, and reliability factors
Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma, and problem-solving methodologies
Experience working in medical device or similar GMP environment
Experience working with suppliers
Self-driven and results oriented with strong data analytics and critical thinking skills
Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive deliverables
Organized and detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships
