SUMMARY OF ROLE:

At MFUSED, the Procurement Specialist leads sourcing strategy, supplier management, and purchasing execution that power multi-state manufacturing and distribution. You will secure reliable supply for packaging components, hardware, ingredients and terpenes, and indirect services, while negotiating favorable terms, managing risk, and ensuring documentation aligns with state rules and internal quality standards.

Collaborate with product development teams to vet new products and new vendors, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of cost, working capital requirements, quality standards, and operational efficiencies.

You will build an approved supplier base, drive total cost improvements, partner with Operations, Quality, and Compliance on specifications, Certificates of Analysis, and release requirements, and maintain disciplined purchasing controls in SOS/ERP and related systems.

The position is based in Scottsdale with multi-state scope and high visibility.

What You’ll Do:

Outcomes and KPIs you will own Deliver a savings pipeline and year-over-year cost improvements on addressable spend.

Maintain supply fill rate at or above target and on time delivery performance.

Control purchase price variance within target and improve inventory turns.

Close supplier corrective actions within agreed timelines and eliminate repeat issues.

Strategy and governance Build category strategies and an approved supplier list that balance cost, quality, service, and risk.

Establish purchasing policies, authority levels, and a fair competitive bidding and RFP cadence that enable speed and compliance.

Uphold MFUSED vendor ethics standards including gift and entertainment thresholds and conflict of interest disclosure.

Sourcing and contracting Run market scans and RFx events with should cost and total cost analyses to inform decisions.

Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, and service levels that protect margins and supply continuity.

Draft or coordinate supply and quality agreements with clear specifications, Certificate of Analysis requirements, and change control provisions.

Supplier quality and compliance Partner with Quality and Compliance to qualify suppliers, define acceptance criteria, and maintain documentation that supports cGMP style purchasing controls.

Ensure purchased materials and labels support state packaging, labeling, and seed to sale reporting requirements.

Coordinate supplier corrective actions when materials or documents fail requirements and close the loop with measurable outcomes.

Planning and supply assurance Translate demand signals and production plans into purchase plans that hit safety stock targets without excess on hand.

Monitor supplier capacity and constraints and resolve potential shortages before they impact Operations.

Purchase order and P2P execution Maintain accurate item masters, pricing, lead times, and vendor terms in SOS and related systems.

Issue and track purchase orders, confirm acknowledgments and ship dates, and resolve receiving or invoice exceptions quickly through three-way match discipline.

Reconcile receiving quantities and documents with ERP records and third-party vendor files.

Cost and performance management Track purchase price variance, inventory turns, supply fill rate, on time delivery, and total cost of ownership.

Run business reviews with key suppliers using a scorecard that includes quality, service, cost, innovation, and risk.

Cross functional collaboration Align with Operations on production schedules and with Inventory and Logistics on receiving readiness and freight coordination.

Partner with Product and Marketing-Brand teams on new item introductions, pre-production samples, and packaging changeovers.

First ninety days Map the current supplier landscape, active agreements, and top spend categories.

Stand up a supplier scorecard and monthly business review rhythm for top suppliers.

Validate item master integrity in SOS, confirm pricing and lead times, and fix critical data gaps.

Identify quick win savings and risk mitigations and present a twelve-month category roadmap.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related discipline preferred. Experience may substitute a degree.

Five or more years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience in a regulated manufacturing setting, with cannabis, pharmaceutical, or food and beverage experience preferred.

Proven success negotiating contracts and delivering year-over-year cost and service improvements while protecting quality and compliance.

Experience qualifying suppliers, managing quality agreements, and coordinating corrective actions with cross functional teams.

Strong command of SOS or similar ERP purchasing controls, item master governance, and three way match processes.

Data fluency with Excel or a business intelligence tool and the ability to convert analysis into clear recommendations.

Clear communicator who can influence at multiple levels and lead supplier business reviews.

Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Even Better if:

Hands on familiarity with seed to sale implications for purchased items and with state packaging and labeling rules across multiple jurisdictions.

Experience in cGMP or similar quality systems, including purchasing controls and documentation discipline.

Exposure to international sourcing of vape hardware or specialized packaging, including customs and quality risk considerations.

Credentials such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, or Lean or Six Sigma training.

Working knowledge of SQL or a modern business intelligence platform for KPI automation and reconciliation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

On‑site presence in Scottsdale with frequent walking and standing and occasional lifting up to thirty‑five pounds within safety guidelines.

Work in regulated areas that require personal protective equipment, documentation discipline, and adherence to security and sanitation protocols.

Ability to travel to supplier sites and MFUSED facilities in other states as needed.

Availability for early or late meetings with suppliers in other time zones and for on‑site support during audits or urgent supply events.
