Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site role located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area for a Project Advisor - with our flagship TRiO Upward Bound Program. The Project Advisor will work directly with students, providing academic advising, career guidance, and college preparation. Responsibilities include conducting workshops and tutorials, planning and overseeing educational enrichment activities, maintaining student progress records, and coordinating with schools and families to support student success. The role also involves helping students navigate college admission processes, financial aid applications, and skills development activities. This particular position will be responsible for a caseload of students who attend George Washington Preparatory High School and TEACH Tech Community High School, both located in the Athens/Westmont area.

Qualifications

Expertise in academic advising, career planning, and education guidance.

Strong organizational skills for planning, coordinating, and managing workshops and enrichment programs.

Experience supporting students with college admissions and financial aid applications.

Excellent communication, writing, mentoring, advising, coaching, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Technical skills working with the Microsoft 365 Productivity Platform, the Google Workplace Suite, Canva, various social media platforms, and other data‑entry, word processing, and document creation applications.

Ability to manage student records and monitor academic progress.

Familiarity with TRiO programs or similar initiatives is a plus.

Proficiency in working with diverse student populations and understanding their unique needs.

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

TRiO alumni preferred.

Must pass an extensive background screening.

Annual TB testing required.

Available to travel to multiple work sites, attend occasional overnight field trips, work weekends.
