Overview

Transportation Project Manager – Cranston Join Cranston, an HFW partner firm, in a Transportation Project Manager role. You will lead a design team and oversee all aspects of project management—from pursuing new opportunities to delivering projects on time and on budget. Responsibilities include proposal preparation, project staffing, and maintaining strong client relationships. Your leadership will guide project schedules, scopes, budgets, quality control, and compliance with corporate policies, while supporting business development and fostering a cohesive team environment.

Responsibilities

Serve as Senior Technical Advisor and Subject Matter Expert.

Identify new markets and clients to generate projects while maintaining positive relationships with existing clients.

Prepare proposals and qualification statements, including estimates and presentations.

Prepare project schedules, scopes, and budgets; ensure on-time and on-budget performance.

Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets; prepare Project Planning Worksheets.

Determine project team makeup and assign workloads.

Conduct project kick-off meetings to communicate and obtain agreement on project schedules.

Monitor and follow up on client invoicing and payments.

Oversee the design phase, including design review meetings and progress reports.

Manage participation in the bidding phase and coordinate responses to contractor questions.

Manage the construction phase according to contract requirements.

Respond promptly to requests for information or problems; maintain good communication.

Ensure quality control procedures are implemented and maintained.

Provide guidance and training to technical support personnel.

Coordinate with other groups for project support.

Ensure project correspondence and design documentation are orderly and complete.

Properly close out projects in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Experience: 8+ years of engineering design consulting experience and 3-5 years of project management experience.

Skills: Strong supervisory, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; exceptional project management abilities.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software.

Licenses: Valid Driver's License.

Education & Experience

Degree: BS in Civil Engineering or a technical equivalent.

Certification: Professional Engineer license in GA, or ability to obtain.

Physical Requirements

General: Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk or hear, sit, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel.

Lifting: Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds; infrequently up to 50 pounds.

Vision: Close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
