SENIOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER, CALTRANS — Caltrans District 3. The position involves supervising a project design and engineering support branch responsible for developing project study reports, project reports, and contract plans and specifications for transportation facilities including freeway, expressway, and conventional highways. Salary range: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month. Final Filing Date: 11/25/2025. Responsibilities

Supervise a design engineering team and prioritize and assign projects to produce high-quality results efficiently. Manage PS&E quality, Architectural & Engineering (A&E) consultant contracts and task orders; conduct constructibility and safety reviews. Serve as District Design Liaison with duties such as geometric reviews, Highway Safety Manual analyses, review of design standard decision documents, freeway agreements, and utility coordination. Oversee local project and encroachment permit (QMAP) activities; develop Minor A projects; act as subject matter expert for specialized design activities. Provide general direction and allocate resources/workloads to support transportation facility projects. Possess a valid California Driver's License for operating state-owned or leased vehicles; possession of a valid California PE license is required. Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle. Working conditions: position located in Shasta County (1031 Butte Street, Redding, CA 96001); travel within the north region; some telework may be available per Caltrans policy.
