Purchasing Agent
Pay : $60K range, depending on experience, with competitive benefits.
Job Duties
Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
Determine needs for required purchases based on inventory levels.
Prepare purchase orders or bid requests for items, materials, or services of a technical and specialized nature.
Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
Maintain procurement records such as items, services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Perform material take-offs from AutoCAD prints for production needs.
Resolve purchase order and invoice differences with suppliers regarding wrong deliveries, payments, invoices, credits, payment terms, and duplicate billings.
Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Expedite delivery of goods to users.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or 5 years of purchasing experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
Construction, steel fabrication, or project management experience is a plus.
Knowledge of database software; Microsoft Office Suite, Sage, Primavera 6, AutoCAD, TimberScan, P6, and CRM.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
