**Position**: Special Education Coordinator / Coach **Location**: Various locations across the district **Terms of Employment**: Full time, 10‑month position – temporary if hired after the contractual start date for teachers **Reports to**: Building Principal **Salary**: Current teacher salary schedule

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Compliance Ensure district and school compliance with IDEA, and other applicable laws and regulations.

Oversee timelines and documentation for evaluations, re‑evaluations, IEPs.

Monitor implementation of IEPs and related services to ensure fidelity and effectiveness.

Facilitate and/or participate in IEP and eligibility meetings.

Serve as liaison between families, schools, service providers, and external agencies.

Collect, analyze, and report special education data to inform decision‑making and ensure accountability.

Support accurate record‑keeping and readiness for audits or monitoring by state and federal agencies.

Instructional Coaching And Professional Development Provide instructional coaching and support to special education and general education teachers.

Model and promote evidence‑based instructional practices, differentiation, and accommodations/modifications.

Guide teachers in using data to drive instruction and monitor progress on IEP goals.

Support inclusive practices and co‑teaching models.

Facilitate collaborative planning, problem‑solving, and reflective practice.

Deliver and/or coordinate professional development related to special education laws, instructional strategies, behavior management, and UDL (Universal Design for Learning).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge

Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws and procedures (IDEA).

Deep understanding of IEP development, implementation, and monitoring.

Familiarity with evidence‑based instructional strategies, specially designed instruction (SDI), and curriculum modifications.

Knowledge of data analysis methods and progress monitoring tools.

Skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Effective coaching, mentoring, and facilitation skills.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Competence in conflict resolution and collaborative problem‑solving.

Skilled in using educational technology and special education data systems (e.g., IEP software).

Abilities

Ability to lead and influence adults in a professional learning environment.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and support personnel.

Ability to analyze and use data to inform instructional practices and program decisions.

Standard Requirements

Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment.

Tuberculin Test and physical.

Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.
