Wayfinder Family Services . This is a remote position with co-locating in the CDSS Chico and Sacramento offices as needed to collaborate for CDSS office meetings and needs. The position requires travel to assigned counties to provide support groups, family events, family support/intervention, and/or AAP. Program and Role Summary
Our statewide
Foster Care and Adoption
programs match children and youth who have been displaced from their homes due to abuse or neglect with families that can provide safe, caring homes. Wayfinder recruits, trains and certifies resource (foster) families, some of whom ultimately adopt the children they foster. We emphasize a child achieving permanency, which can be reunification with birth parents, living with relatives, adoption or guardianship. Also, Wayfinder offers therapeutic
post-adoption support
that includes case management, mental health therapy, and mentoring to children and their adoptive families during and after adoption to promote stability and permanency. The
Post Adoption Social Worker
will provide preventive, supportive, educational services specifically to post-adoptive families. These services will include short-term interventions based on the individualized needs of the family primarily concerning adoption-related issues. Primary responsibilities, education and experience, and travel requirements are described below. Primary Responsibilities
Provide education and information to assist families in understanding the family situation and learning strategies in parenting. Assess family needs and assist families with appropriate community linkages, advocacy support, and skill building. Brief case management for post adoptive families, brief initial assessment to complete a family support plan. Provide families with strategies to assist with increasing attachment in their home and in learning a variety of techniques to respond to challenging behaviors. Other duties as outlined in the position description. Education and Experience
Master's degree in social work or a related field is required. Experience working with pre and post adoptive families is preferred. Ability to travel to Chico office monthly, as well as various Northern California counties quarterly (Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, Siskiyou, Lassen, Modoc, among others). Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of two (3) years good driving history and must be approved by the agency’s insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Benefits
