Paralegal #00033424-24400, Full-Time, At-Will in Albuquerque, NM. The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting for a full-time, at-will Paralegal in the Office of General Counsel (OGC). Opening Date: 10-14-2025 | Close Date: 10-27-2025 | Target Pay Range/Rate: $24.736-30.920 per hour Administrative Office of the Courts | Business Unit: 24400 | # of Positions: 1 Essential Tasks / Responsibilities

Under general supervision of an attorney, perform advanced legal research and interview clients, pro se litigants, and attorneys; manage cases and compose legal correspondence to identify relevant legal issues. Provide appropriate legal forms, procedural information, and referrals according to court rules and guidelines. Review court rules, analyze circumstances, and make recommendations on complex situations and non-routine issues that may fall outside court guidelines. Explain legal procedures and COLA rules to customers; provide customer service and information to the public, other state agencies, and assist attorneys in delivering legal services. Perform advanced legal factual research, prepare legal pleadings and draft contracts, reports, correspondence, routine orders, and perform related audits and notarizations. Present and train others in Continuing Legal Education and other training or educational programs. Keep judges and/or legal staff informed about proposed court rules, statutes, procedures, and law changes. Review case history, prepare and organize appointments and referrals for arbitration and mediation; revise court forms to comply with NM statutes and court rules. Coordinate intake forms, ensure accuracy and completeness; manage document processing, office files, calendar hearings, and generate statistical reports. Prepare agendas, schedule appointments and meetings, and may manage administrative minutes. Serve as a liaison with court staff, state agencies, and the public; provide assistance to other legal divisions as requested. Ensure record keeping is accurate and HIPAA compliant; ensure compliance with statutory retention schedules for paperwork and court/ procurement documents. May prepare legal pleadings, pro se correspondence, and arbitration forms; coordinate with court-appointed arbitrators and support staff for case management and arbitration documents. May analyze court dockets and operations to develop processes and standard operating procedures to improve case management and court services; provide referrals to court divisions and community resources as needed. May respond to Public Records Act requests on behalf of the Court’s Records Custodian in compliance with statutes and rules; may draft legislative bill analysis or fiscal reports; may serve as a Court Monitor. Other duties as assigned. Competencies / Qualifications

The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge in: authorized and unauthorized practices of law; legal terminology and procedures; court rules, policies, and operations; employment law; case management systems and software; NM Statutes Annotated; forms of opinions and legal writing styles; reference materials such as The Gregg Reference Manual, Lexis, Westlaw, Westcheck; Supreme Court Rules and Regulations; NM Administrative Code; NM One Source; NM Judicial Branch Personnel Rules; differentiating court procedures versus legal advice; data collection; mediation and conflict management; project management; procurement and audit procedures; court records maintenance, retention and destruction; governmental and civic processes; HIPAA requirements. Work Environment

Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver's license and travel may be required. Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee must regularly interact positively with co-workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices. Important Note:

Paralegal qualifications per NM Rules Governing Paralegal Services (Rule 20-115) or equivalent Options include: ABA-approved paralegal program or equivalent diploma/degree; associate, post-baccalaureate, bachelor’s with relevant experience; law school degree; or professional certification with experience; or high school diploma with substantial law-related experience Application
