Overview
We’re seeking a sharp legal assistant for our busy law firm who can help our attorney and paralegal assist clients and keep the office running smoothly. You’ll work with the team to prepare a variety of legal documents, and handle office correspondence like answering emails and phone calls, scheduling meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Responsibilities
Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals
Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records with assistance from the accounting department
Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested
Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothly
Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as greeting clients, responding to emails and phone calls, scheduling appointments, attending document signings, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines
Qualifications
Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary
Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
Cotential candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute
Proficient with MS Office products
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and organizational skills
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred
Having a Notary Certification is a plus
Compensation $18 hourly
