Paralegal, Litigation and Transactions

Provide legal support and assistance to litigation and transactional attorneys with bankruptcy matters, litigation matters, redevelopment projects, new development, property dispositions, acquisitions, financings, and other strategic transactions, including:
Work with in-house and outside counsel on case management.
Work with in-house counsel, internal personnel, and outside counsel on discovery.
Work with in-house counsel and internal personnel on litigation holds.
Gathering and reviewing due diligence materials.
Title and survey review and analysis.
Preparation of closing documents and instructions to title company.
Preparing appropriate notices under applicable property-level agreements.
Managing deal timelines and closing checklists.
Review, prepare and negotiate basic agreements such as easements, service contracts, and confidentiality agreements.
Manage vendors providing third-party reports for large-scale projects.
Prepare, mail, track and obtain estoppel certificates from tenants and adjoining land owners.
Provide timely response to legal requests from internal departments for preparation, review, and analysis of legal documents or research of legal issues.
Research and analyze REAs, development agreements, operating/partnership agreements, anchor tenant leases, loan agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.
Work on special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills (Desired Abilities):
Knowledge of commercial real estate practices.
General knowledge of litigation case management, subpoenas, and discovery processes.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, document management systems, online assessor and recorder databases.
Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units and/or departments.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate or related area or Paralegal Certificate AND
Two (2) to five (5) years paralegal experience.
Notary public preferred.
Prior experience in real estate investment trust (REIT) or real estate development company highly desired.
