Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 1 (NY HELPS) – NYSED, Bronx District Office. Base pay range

$78,126.00/yr - $99,056.00/yr Duties

Assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and job-ready ACCES-VR customers to identify employment opportunities to ensure successful employment outcomes. Serve as part of the local district office management team to plan and implement staff development programming. Participate in statewide IES meetings and support initiatives and responsibilities associated with the statewide Integrated Employment Specialist team. Provide technical assistance and oversight of job-placement vendors’ service delivery and oversight of contract utilization. Network and partner with local Career Stops and serve as an ACCES-VR liaison when needed. Deliver ADA trainings to local employers upon request, including the preparation and presentation of both in-person and virtual sessions for business groups and community stakeholders, focused on hiring individuals with disabilities and negotiating employment agreements that promote inclusion. Provide information to employers on tax credits such as WTO, and employer incentives for hiring individuals with disabilities, including but not limited to federal bonding program, 55a, 55b/c and Schedule A hiring opportunities for employers and ACCES-VR customers. Facilitate and attend local employment networking events and meetings with employers and business communities to promote hiring of ACCES-VR customers. Implement the Business Engagement Plan as required under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Represent ACCES-VR with employer and placement networks. Develop presentations and facilitate workshops with New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), New York Commission for the Blind (NYSCB), and other public and private stakeholders. Provide ACCES-VR business services as a member of the National Employment Team (NET). Plan and manage District Office annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) activities. Non-competitive minimum qualifications

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are: bachelor's or higher degree AND three years of professional experience in originating employment programs resulting in new and increased employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This experience must have included job development and creating targeted marketing plans directed toward hiring persons with disabilities. One year of this experience must have included either preparation and delivery of presentations to business groups on employing persons with disabilities or negotiating agreements to hire persons with disabilities. Competitive minimum qualifications

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 1.
