Leading HVAC/mechanical contractor based in Central Florida, founded in 1976, now employee‑owned, with over 500 employees providing design, installation, service, maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical systems across commercial and industrial projects. We are seeking a skilled Payroll Clerk to join the team.
Position Summary The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate payroll processing, withholding, tax reporting, and related activities. This role works closely with HR, benefits, and accounting teams to ensure data integrity, compliance with federal/state/local regulations, and responsive resolution of payroll inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines and be able to work in a fully onsite position.
Essential Duties
Process weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and field staff, including regular, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and off‑cycle payments
Process weekly/quarterly 401K and tax payments
Accurately apply deductions (e.g. benefits, garnishments, tax withholdings)
Assist with W‑2, 1099 and other year‑end payroll documents
Maintain confidentiality and internal controls for personal and sensitive information
Assist with accounting department audit requests
Experience / Skills
Minimum 1‑3 years of hands‑on payroll experience (preferably in a mid‑size or construction / services environment)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong knowledge of payroll concepts
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar)
Solid working knowledge of U.S. federal, state and local payroll tax regulations
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and problem‑solving ability
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple concurrent tasks
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
