Job overview: This is a temporary role with our Facilities team. Responsibilities include building alterations and renovations, laying out new walls, ceilings, doors, cabinets, and floors; framing and repairing walls with wood, metal, and masonry; installing ceilings, sheetrock, door jambs, bulletin boards, coat racks; and installing cabinets, floor tiles, carpet or vinyl base, countertops, windows, and storm windows.

This position may require the incumbent to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, day shift. Appointment Length: Until further notice. Hiring Range: $18.00/hr.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed‑upon start date)

At least four years of experience in general framing, interior framing, drywall, finish carpentry, cabinet making, concrete finishing, etc.; or

Two years of post‑secondary education in the building trades or technical field with two years of the above experience in a university, commercial, or industrial building maintenance organization

Valid driver’s license (maintained before and after hire for operation of an OSU vehicle as required)

Frequent communication with customers and coworkers about work inquiries, exchanging accurate information

Ability to become proficient with the "AiM" Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology

Commitment to working safely and promoting a safe environment

Preferred Qualifications

Vocational/Technical training in Building Trades or Technical Field

Two years of post‑secondary education in the building trades with three years of prior successful work experience in general framing, interior framing, drywall, finish carpentry, cabinet making, or concrete finishing within a university, commercial, or industrial building maintenance organization
