The Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator reports directly to the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) and through the TPM to the Trauma Medical Director and the Burn Medical Director. Duties include development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Trauma and Burn Programs' injury prevention, community outreach, and safety advocacy efforts. These duties are aligned to meet the injury prevention criteria for trauma and burn center verification as defined by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and the American Burn Association. Responsibilities

Manages the Trauma and Burn injury prevention efforts, including community outreach, safety advocacy, professional education, media engagement, and monthly reporting to the TPM and trauma/burn medical directors. Prioritizes injury trends identified in the trauma registry, the burn registry, and local epidemiological data. Supports and participates in injury prevention and community outreach activities promoted at University of Michigan Health and affiliated institutions (e.g., Stop the Bleed). Interacts with patients and the public in person and via virtual platforms. Implements at least two activities per trauma and burn verification cycle (3 years), with specific objectives and deliverables addressing major community injury causes. Coordinates and teaches injury prevention, community outreach, and professional development training programs for diverse audiences (community-based agencies, professional organizations, law enforcement, fire service, schools, patients, families, youth, older adults, businesses, hospitals, state and government agencies, etc.). Develops and distributes safety education and injury prevention materials. Collaborates with UM Health and University of Michigan colleagues to support local/regional/state injury prevention efforts and oversees program data. Develops partnerships with local/regional/state organizations to support their injury prevention efforts in alignment with UM Health. Represents the Trauma and Burn Programs in injury-related state and national professional associations, coalitions, and task forces. Assists in trauma and burn registry data abstraction and conducts ongoing program evaluation. Facilitates events that may include fundraising to support education and injury prevention efforts (e.g., annual burn survivor picnic). As UM Health expands, partners with and coordinates staff at affiliated hospitals to align injury prevention efforts with UM Health system goals. Required Qualifications

BSN or RN, PA, or NP licensed 4+ years of trauma and/or burn surgery patient care experience Desired Qualifications

Previous experience with injury prevention programs and teaching Excellent writing and speaking skills Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Modes of Work
