Community Engagement Assistant – Volunteers Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (hours are flexible but will be within the office hours) Work Environment On-site Compensation $20.00 per hour (non-exempt) A New Leaf is committed to empowering individuals and enriching communities through transformative services. Job Summary: The Community Engagement Assistant supports the Community Engagement team in coordinating individual and group volunteer involvement across A New Leaf programs. This role assists with application review, onboarding preparation, scheduling, communication, meal coordination, and recordkeeping to help ensure a well-organized and meaningful volunteer experience. Success in this position requires professionalism, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Assist with reviewing volunteer applications and scheduling initial interviews. Communicate with program staff to help coordinate individual volunteer placements based on program needs. Prepare onboarding materials and support volunteers in completing required documentation. Maintain accurate volunteer records and update information in the volunteer management system. Coordinate logistics and communication for group volunteer activities, including service days and meal donations. Manage the agency’s meal calendar and confirm group participation and details in a timely manner. Serve as a point of contact for group volunteers to answer questions and provide guidance before, during, and after scheduled visits. Respond to inquiries about volunteer opportunities and provide timely, professional information to interested individuals or groups. Draft and send communications to volunteers, community partners, and meal donors as needed. Support volunteer appreciation efforts and assist in coordinating recognition activities and community events. Help maintain internal tracking tools and documentation to ensure compliance with agency procedures and funder requirements. Provide general administrative support to the Community Engagement team, including calendar maintenance, file organization, and material preparation. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required Coursework or training in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field preferred Experience: Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or administrative support preferred Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn internal systems Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Comfortable interacting professionally with volunteers, donors, program staff, and community partners Experience with volunteer management software or scheduling tools preferred Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to program or community sites. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., event materials, supplies). May require occasional evening or weekend hours to support volunteer activities or community events. Regular use of computers, phones, printers, and other standard office equipment is expected. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Mandated Reporter Requirements: As a mandated reporter under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13-3620, you are required to immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Clinical Director, or Chief Officer, who will assist in making the appropriate report to authorities. Reports should be directed to either the local law enforcement agency or child protective services (1-888-SOS-CHILD). Abuse suspected of involving a family member or legal guardian should be reported to child protective services, while other cases should be reported to law enforcement. Responsible To:
