I. Position Summary:
Provides direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care of Emergency Department
patients and accountability for all nursing and personnel functions. Ensures 24/7 management
accountability and assists in promoting evidence-based practices. Leads initiatives to foster a
patient/family centered environment and transform care delivery. Manages the staff that
provides the delivery of patient care for a group of patients. Directs and delegates patient care
assignments to health team via Assistant Nurse Managers based on patient care needs.
Collaborates with nursing directors and managers to ensure appropriate resources to
internal/external customers. Serves as advocate on behalf of staff and patients/families.
Works in establishing collegial relations with physicians.
II. Qualifications:
A. Education & Training:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
B. Experience:
Five (5) years nursing experience.
C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current US state RN license with authorization to practice in the state of GA. Current
AHA/ARC BLS certification. Current AHA ACLS/ARC ALS and AHA/ARC PALS
certification or obtained within nine (9) months of hire. CPT training within 9 months
of hire. Must complete and maintain required stroke education/training as mandated in
the “HHC Primary Stroke Center / Acute Stroke Ready Designation” policy.
D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment. Must
be able to utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc.
Must be able to utilize standard office equipment. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft
Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Midas, Quadrant, etc.). Proficiency in
Intranet/Internet use. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent oral/written
communication skills. Skilled in conflict resolution, critical thinking, task
management and appropriate prioritization/delegation. Provides oversight of
evaluations to ensure they are turned in timely. Effective budget development and
management.
