NIAAA T-32 Postdoctoral Research Training Fellowship at University of Michigan
The University of Michigan Addiction Center is seeking PhD and MD applicants for its National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)-funded T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Fellowship.
Housed within the Department of Psychiatry, the U-M Addiction Center leads multiple projects addressing the causes, prevention, course, clinical manifestations, and treatment of alcohol and other substance use disorders, as well as co-occurring conditions. U-M offers a strong methodological infrastructure and a highly collaborative research environment. Trainees benefit from mentorship across multiple departments and disciplines including Psychiatry, Psychology, Statistics, Human Genetics, Pharmacology, Emergency Medicine, Public Health, Social Work, and Nursing, as well as from institutes such as the Institute for Social Research and the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation and collaborative teams like MI-ACRE and d3c.

Program Goals The NIAAA T32 Program provides multidisciplinary training to prepare the next generation of scientists to:
Develop and test effective approaches to treatment and indicated prevention
Design and evaluate models to disseminate evidence-based interventions across diverse populations
Advance understanding of the processes that drive changes in drinking and other drug use behaviors
Location and Environment Our fellowship is housed at the University of Michigan, one of the nation’s leading public universities, where the psychiatry department ranks seventh in NIH funding. A rich library system and educational infrastructure across medical and academic campuses await fellows. Work-life balance is promoted, and Ann Arbor, Michigan offers cultural events, museums, concerts, festivals, parks, dining, sustainability initiatives, and Big 10 sports, with access to a major hub airport for travel.
Eligibility and Appointment Details
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a PhD or MD.
Appointments are typically two years, with the possibility of a third year.
Salaries are based on prior postdoctoral experience and NRSA guidelines.
