OVERVIEW The Process Engineer is responsible for improving production efficiency by developing & executing process improvements relating to quality, productivity, equipment reliability, safety and yield. Lead process improvement by identifying root causes of specific quality & operations issues by gathering & evaluating relevant data & working with Quality Assurance and plant operations. Is also responsible for improving existing operations and manufacturing technologies and provides technical support to the Chalmette Refinery.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for developing methods of improving the existing process through automation, process developments and new technologies.

Works with Control Engineers to optimize Process Controls to fine tune process control points to achieve efficiencies and improved quality.

Assist process superintendents and supervisors as needed to troubleshoot issues in the process.

Strives to constantly improve the energy efficiency of the process and the refinery.

Manages process projects and tasks as assigned by the process manager.

Works within all safety, environmental, food safety and food security procedures.

Performs lab testing to support improvements.

WORK EXPERIENCES

Five years of Chemical/Process Engineering experience desired; prior knowledge in Food industry or Consumer Product Goods is preferred

Previous work experience developing or assisting in the development of new processes/procedures

Prior involvement with supporting multiple capital projects

Experience supervising employees or leading a project including employees in a unionized work environment is a plus

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

B.S. degree (or higher) in Engineering (Chemical preferred) or related field from an accredited college/university.

Maintenance techniques and systems for reliable operation

Troubleshooting hardware and processes

Managing multiple projects, tasks and deadlines

Organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through on agreed actions

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Wonderware, SAP an advantage

Food manufacturing, GMPs, HACCP, SQF. Safety standards and regulations

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

Must be able to perform lab testing to support improvements.

Ability to learn the process associated with processing sugar cane
