Position Summary:

The Mold Maker Class A is a master of their craft, bringing expert-level skills and precision to every project. In this role, you will take fully detailed CAD databases or print packages—ranging from simple to highly complex molds—and lead the build process independently from start to finish. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, thrives on challenging work, and is driven to deliver high-quality results that make an impact.

Responsibilities

Investigate/Identify complex mold issues and perform necessary repairs

Identify, recommend and initiate work process for improvements for tool development and performance

Perform complex setup and operation of CNC equipment

Perform grinding of complex pins, cores, cavities and shutoffs

Prepare components for heat treatment

Perform shutoffs independently

Responsible for consulting on mold design, sequencing, and optimization

Responsible for providing insight into repair strategies and engineering revisions

Responsible for organizing and managing complex repair schedules

Acting as a go-to person for problem-solving and technical advice

Mentor apprentices and less experienced team members

Read and follow work instructions, setup sheets, and checklists accurately

Record time and repair details into the maintenance ticket system.

Adhere to all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Comply with the company’s Quality System, ISO, and medical device regulations

Understand and follow all standard work procedures

Participate in all required company meetings

Maintain a clean and organized work environment according to 5S principles

Support the Operational Excellence Program

Perform other duties as assigned

Work effectively in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications

Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent experience repairing molds

10+ years of hands-on bench experience in a tooling environment.

Strong understanding of quality procedures and standards

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering prints and blueprints.

Demonstrated skills in using hand tools

Proficient in using surface grinders, mills, and lathes

Ability to grind or machine a variety of mold components

Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Word and Excel

Understanding of Operational Excellence or Lean Manufacturing practices

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills

Ability to read, comprehend, and follow work instructions and SOPs

Demonstrated mechanical dexterity with strong hand-eye coordination

Proven problem-solving ability and troubleshooting skills

Ability to take direction from supervisors

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications:

Associate degree or 2 years of technical/trade school is preferred

Physical & Environmental Demands:

Cretex Companies may use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process. Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.

Pay Range USD $35.38 - USD $53.08 /Hr.

Pay Range Details This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full hiring range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

20+hours:
