Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Boilermaker
to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabricating, assembling, and repairing tanks, steel structures and other manufacturing equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, metalworking, and blueprint reading. Key Performance Areas
SHEQ Safety Compliant – Site, Employees and Safety File. Reading drawings, measuring, plating, piping, manufacturing, safety and team management skills. Good quality of craftmanship to be produced. Manage site consumables and material planning. Management of Site team and good communication to the client and superiors. Responsibilities
Safety Responsibility
Ensuring SHEQ safety compliance is met in the area of work, including creating a safe work environment and filing all safety-related documents as per SHEQ procedures. Completing all tasks safely within the Mine Health and Safety Regulations. Ensure all subordinates know the correct procedures they need to follow before executing any tasks. When any of these tasks are not completed to safety standard, the Supervisor must implement disciplinary actions according to the WCM code of conduct. Engaging in daily toolbox talks and ensuring the daily risk assessments are done correctly. Planned task observations (PTO) must be done regularly (no less than once per week). Communicating all monthly safety topics, alerts, notices, announcements, etc. to the crew as provided by the HOD/Area Manager or other management. Ensure all employees entering the workplace have correct PPE equipment as described by the SHEQ safety policy. Ensure that all subordinates complete a continuous risk assessment before work is commenced. Reporting of all issues, incidents, changes, etc. to Area Manager observed during the day that impact workplace safety or could lead to unsafe conditions as defined by Watercare SHEQ policy. Ensure the safety file as well as safety procedures are in place for the site. Attending all safety meetings when required. Operational Responsibilities
Working as specified by the Area Manager and/or Client to perform inspections and assist in operations. Ensuring all tasks are performed correctly and to standard to achieve the required structure quality. When not completed to standard, the Supervisor must implement disciplinary actions according to the WCM code of conduct. Reporting of all issues, incidents, changes, etc. to the Area Manager/Supervisor that could/did impact work quality or performance before the end of the shift. Compile a daily report of duties fulfilled on instruction, including failures or breakdowns, and send to the Client as well as the Area Manager/Supervisor. Ensuring that material and tools are on site and proper planning is done with respect to manufacturing, fitting, and completion dates. In case of a breakdown/upgrade, the Area Manager or Supervisor will be called to site if deemed necessary. Communicating with the respective engineer/foreman/supervisors to ensure all out-of-scope repairs/maintenance are completed. Carry out the function of an artisan when required. Reporting of all relevant issues, incidents, changes, etc. to the Area Manager that could impact daily operations. Ensuring that materials and tools are loaded and sent underground from the surface storage area after job/task planning is completed. Inspect systems for possible failure or maintenance needs. The Boilermaker will be responsible for all manufacturing and fitting of plating, piping and valves with his artisan assistant/aid. Required Qualification and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; certificates in welding and boilermaker classes. Red Seal. Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in boiler making or a related field. Basic knowledge of welding techniques and metalworking. Special Functions
The Boilermaker will be expected to be available telephonically at all times. The Boilermaker must ensure client communication and satisfaction, reporting any issues to the Area Manager. Good planning ability is needed to ensure no standing time. It is expected of the Boilermaker to be flexible and to be utilized at other sites beyond the normal place of work or duties. The Boilermaker must ensure punctuality for underground conveyance.
