Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Educational Diagnostician Certification
Three years of successful teaching experience
Educational Diagnostician experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct full and individual evaluations (FIE) of students using the most research‑based, best practice models, including individualized testing, play‑based assessment, team assessment, classroom observations, conferences with teachers and parents, and other evaluation instruments and methods necessary for a thorough evaluation of the 13 eligibility categories.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, related services providers, medical practitioners, and teachers to plan and align evaluation and ARD timelines and due dates for compliance.
Assist in planning and preparing educational plans, including individualized instructional recommendations, by reporting and interpreting FIE results, eligibility and educational implications/recommendations to teachers, administrators, students and/or parents before the ARD meeting.
Serve as a required member of the Admissions, Review and Dismissal committee meetings for all REED, initial, reevaluation, and 30‑day transfer ARDs.
Collect and compile data obtained through the initial referral assessment process for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students for assessment team eligibility discussion and determination before the FIE and ARD due dates.
Monitor and ensure the progress report period updating of student IEPs.
Write a Full and Individual Evaluation following the legal framework, TEA guidelines and board policy for evaluation and eligibility determination.
Provide in‑service training for teachers and school personnel on confidentiality of records, ARD process and procedures, documentation and timeline compliance, and the ARD decision‑making process for state assessment determinations.
Maintain accurate and updated audit folders to comply with the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook requirements; submit ARD/FIE audit documents and PEIMS data entry forms to the special education office within 10 days of the ARD meeting date.
Attend scheduled staff and in‑service meetings.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the director of special education.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and guide the campus ARD process for compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, district policy, and department operating guidelines and procedures.
Working Conditions
Constant walking, standing, and movement to ensure safety and well‑being of students in large open areas.
Physical activity, modeling, and directing instruction in front of large group settings to define expected behaviors.
Lifting, carrying, or pulling instructional equipment necessary for lesson delivery (regular light lifting
Exposure to various climate settings and temperatures inside and outside the school building.
Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and standing.
