Ensures prescription accuracy at every stage of the pharmaceutical dispensing process. Provides leadership and electronically oversees pharmacy technician entries.
Education / Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor's in Pharmacy or PharmD and a valid Texas Pharmacy License required. Experience Requirements:
3-5 years prior pharmacist experience Organizational skills Team player Strong attention to detail Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task Pharmacology knowledge Characteristics

Oversees and verifies pharmacy technician’s orders. Reviews and interprets physician’s orders to detect therapeutic incompatibilities. Ensures compliance with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA. Contacts physicians to clarify prescriptions when needed. Corrects errors during prescription order entry. Approves medications to proceed to delivery scheduling or prior authorization. Demonstrates knowledge of Senderra’s community values daily. Participates in staff meetings, conference calls, and other meetings as needed. Performs incidental and related duties as required. Performs post-verification (PV-2) after PV-1 prescriptions for claim/pre-fill Drug Utilization Reviews (DURs) completed by PV-1 pharmacists. Capable of managing a high volume of PV-2 prescriptions for dispensing, as set by the Director of Pharmacy. Ensures accuracy in notes regarding package setup and corrected addresses for timely patient delivery. Uses effective communication and clinical skills with healthcare providers and patients. Secondary Responsibilities:
Utilizes pharmacy software for review and preparation of prescriptions, including pre-verification, label generation, editing, product verification, and reports. Assists in training and directing support staff to streamline pharmacy operations. Supports the Director of Pharmacy with special projects. Answers calls promptly and courteously, identifying self and position. Interacts with pharmacy software vendor’s help desk for issue resolution. Proficient in navigating the electronic health record system. Assists in Quality Management projects and data collection. Helps order medications through the wholesaler. Prepares yearly pharmacy inventory and maintains cost-effective procurement. Maintains confidentiality and security of all hospital, medical staff, and patient data. Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures. Proficient with pharmacy robotics. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions
Fast-paced environment Requires normal vision (corrected) both close and distant Requires normal hearing (corrected) Work involves extended periods at a desk using phone and computer, sitting, bending, with occasional lifting of 15 lbs.
