Respiratory Therapist (RRT, CRT) PRN (As per needed) DEPARTMENT:

Respiratory Therapy Services JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports: Responsible To: Respiratory Therapy Manager Responsible For: Does not supervise other employees. JOB SUMMARY: As a licensed Respiratory Therapist, you are responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders. You initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; select, assemble, and operate equipment, and build and maintain strategic relationships. Understanding and implementing relevant hospital wide policies and procedures for safe patient care. This position requires critical thinking skills in high stress situations while engaging in the team environment. You will also participate in clinical decision-making and patient education, health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program. Nationally Registered Respiratory Therapist. Currently licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. Current BLS certification. Certification Preferred: ACLS, PALS and NRP certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire) KEY COMPONENTS: Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong organizational, planning, time management and prioritizing skills. Proficiency in MS Office, and patient management software. Ability to multitask. Critical thinking. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with physicians, nurses and other associates to develop a plan of care for patients with acute and/or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory therapy technicians must present his or herself in a professional manner to fellow workers. This includes neat and clean appearance and conducting oneself in an acceptable manner. Effectively and efficiently assess and reassess patients and administer respiratory therapy modalities and medications for breathing disorders. Proficient at all aspects of respiratory care, to all patient age ranges including arterial blood gas punctures. Manage ventilators and artificial airway devices for patients who can’t breathe normally on their own. Trained in labor and delivery and participate in C-sections and normal deliveries as needed. Plays a prominent role in responding to Code Blue or other urgent calls for care. Performs care according to the population served on the unit as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy. Perform outpatient testing: Pulmonary Function Tests, Home Sleep Studies, Oxygen Qualifications, and Overnight Oximetry. Scheduling patient testing. Performs other duties as needed or assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking.

Motor coordination and manual dexterity.

Daily lifts supplies and equipment up to 25lbs.

Occasional lifts/position/transfer patient, 200 pounds. Moderate physical effort.

Normal eyesight, with and without corrective lenses.

Normal hearing, with or without hearing aid.

Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.

Ability to carry out procedures as outlined.
