Summary : Under the supervision of the Radiologist and according to established policies and procedures, operates CT and X-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic images according to Radiologist specifications and assist the Radiologist in protocols/procedures. The CT/X-ray Technologist performs exams in compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies and procedures. The incumbent selects appropriate imaging parameters to produce exams of diagnostic quality with 90-95% accuracy. Assists radiologist in specialized exams such as biopsies, ablation, and abscess drainage. Follows patient screening/care protocols and provides accurate documentation to support expedited patient throughput and diagnosis. Operates multi-slice CT scanners to produce cross-sectional radiographs for diagnostic purposes. Ensures safe operation of equipment and exposure of patients to radiation. Provides professional and high-quality care following hospital policies, procedures and standards. Performs all CT technologist duties daily and provides direct patient care to patients from pediatric through geriatric ages. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to supply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. This position will rotate through both CT and X-ray shifts as needed. Job Responsibilities

Sound knowledge and proficiency in the use of CT Scan equipment. Perform CT exams as per protocol on a variety of different body parts in a timely manner. Complete appropriate history forms, technologist exam sheet and check labs when necessary. Properly identifies patient information using two patient identifiers and complies with National Patient Safety Goals standards, ARRT Code of Ethics Standards and Cultural Compass; practices ALARA. Performs accurate and high quality exams by using ALARA to ensure proper technique, positioning and visualization. Responsible for accurately inputting data into computer information systems (RIS, Synapse, Radnet) and transferring images to PACS. Reviews authorization/requisition and other paperwork to verify examination type and check for contraindicators and suspected pathologies with 90-95% accuracy; consults with nursing/physicians/radiologists when needed. Explains procedures clearly to patients to obtain cooperation and confirms understanding. Ability to start IVs independently and administer contrast media with power injector. Performs quality checks on equipment and initiates service or repairs as needed. Qualifications

Required Work Experience: Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology program in an AMA approved school preferred. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Preferred Work Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities and appropriate licensure/certifications. Skills and Competencies: 1 year in CT in an acute care setting. Technical skills in CT with understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, 3D post-processing, computer skills, power injector, IV skills and CPR.
