Assistant Teaching Professor in Management
The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor in Management.

Special Instructions to Applicants The School of Management in the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi seeks to fill a full-time, nine-month Assistant Teaching Professor of Management position starting in August 2026. Job Summary The School of Management invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Management, effective August 2026. The position will support our Management BSBA and MBA programs. Candidates with extensive knowledge and experience in various management and business-related courses are especially encouraged to apply.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teach four courses per semester (or equivalent) to be determined by the Director of the School. The teaching obligations support the Management BSBA and MBA programs.
Primary teaching responsibilities support the Management BSBA and MBA programs, but may also include support of related programs.
Be willing and able to teach various management courses, such as Management for Organizations, Global Managerial Policy and Strategy, and Organizational Behavior and Leadership.
Maintain quality teaching (both online and in-person).
Maintain active research and contribute service to the mission of the program, the School, the College, and the University.
May also include mentoring undergraduate students, supporting undergraduate research, recruitment, and other service activities (such as committee work and other official activities) for the School, the College, and the University.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Management or a related field is required. Candidates with ABD status may also be considered, but must provide strong evidence that they will complete the doctoral degree by August 2026.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Specialized knowledge of management as demonstrated through relevant graduate coursework.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively (both online and in traditional settings) at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from all backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency in developing and delivering face‑to‑face and online instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Emphasis on building connections with diverse student populations and establishing relationships with community business partners.
Desire to engage in recruitment and retention of students.
Drive to participate in and support a collaborative working environment.
Commitment to high‑impact practices and ability to teach a variety of courses, such as Management for Organizations, Operations Management, Global Managerial Policy and Strategy, and Organizational Behavior and Leadership.
Emphasis on candidates who can connect with and relate to students and challenge them to become effective and professional problem solvers.
